The Peninsula from Modoc County Road 123, with newly
planted field of  potatoes

field notes:

View from southeast; Friday became too windy – water containers blew away, then metal palette. Sunday, Peninsula shadows c. 1:30; sun, slight breeze at end of lovely day but hazy & smoky.  Crop duster planes overhead in the morning, constant calls of redwing blackbirds and rhythmic pulse water pumps behind me; irrigation pipes assembled in newly planted potato field as I painted.

date: on-site painting,  begun Friday May 30;  finished 11-3:30 Sunday June 1, 2003

materials: transparent watercolor and gouache Canson watercolor paper
image size: ca. 7 x 24   inches
